Brainspotting is effective for a wide variety of emotional and somatic conditions. Brainspotting is particularly effective with trauma-based situations, helping to identify and heal underlying trauma that contributes to anxiety, depression and other behavioral conditions. It can also be used with performance and creativity enhancement. Brainspotting gives the therapist access to both brain and body processes. Its goal is to bypass the conscious, neocortical thinking to access the deeper, subcortical emotional and body-based parts of the brain.

– Couples Counseling –

In couples counseling we use the IMAGO Relationship system. Dr. Harville Hendrix wrote the book ‘Getting The Love You Want’ to help couples explore what an ideal relationship looks like based on our subconscious desire to find a partner who helps us grow as a person.

– Individual Counseling: Ages 13+ –

Building relationships are a fundamental part of the human experience. Often we take for granted the ones in our lives, who have had the greatest impact in shaping our behaviors. The one relationship most often ignored, is the one we have with ourselves. It takes an effort to take time out of our busy day to ensure our own needs are met, yet when done the world is brighter and those around us can’t help but notice.

– Parent Skill Building –

I am a parent, a therapist, a veteran, a teacher, a helper and a neighbor. I have played many roles in my life but the one as a parent has been both the most difficult and most rewarding. For a number of years I have worked with parents riddled with what I call ‘Parent Guilt’. Often we feel as though we aren’t enough for our children but the truth is there is no such thing as a perfect parent. The surprising thing is with a just a few changes in how we communicate there can be a drastic positive shift in the family dynamics. It’s rather beautiful to witness. Often it doesn’t take much more than being able to embrace the idea, it doesn’t matter if you are perfect as long as you are present and able to validate each others struggles along the way.

– Trauma Focused Psychotherapies –

Prolonged Exposure

Prolonged Exposure is a therapeutic treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It is the primary treatment model used by the VA to treat vets who have symptoms of PTSD. It is a 10-12 week highly structured, evidenced based treatment of which I have seen save relationships.
